Class structure
Ji Ben Gong (Warm Up/ Basics)
Our training begins with our traditional warm ups and qigong, moving through the basic walking and hand poses to prepare the body and calm the mind in preparation for further training. These warm ups not only prepare the mind and body but are also integral for developing a relaxed posture and separating empty and full (see the 10 essentials of Tai Chi.)

Taolu
The next stage of training is to practice the 85 step Tai Chi Taolu. Beginners will be guided through the form in sections over a period of weeks or months until they are able to join the rest of the class in the complete form. The 85 step form will take around 24 minutes to complete.
On top of this there will also be opportunities to practice weapons forms and 2 person practice.
Push hand and Applications
Push hands and fighting application work are two separate things, but also linked.
We have several push hands methods which are designed to instil a sensitivity in the practitioner, promoting their ability to stick to their opponent, sense and counter their movements. Whereas our application work is designed for combat use.
Where one is a game to promote a skill set the other is a method of control, attack and damage.
